Calendar Girls

The Vagabond Players

Calendar Girls

By Tim Firth

Directed by Nancy von Euw

When Annie’s husband is diagnosed with leukaemia, she and her best friend resolve to raise money for a new settee in the local hospital waiting room. They persuade their fellow WI members to pose nude with them for an “alternative” calendar, and soon, news of the women’s charitable venture spreads like wildfire. Hordes of press descend on the small Yorkshire Dale village and, before long, the ladies find themselves a world-wide phenomenon. Based on the film of the same name, Calendar Girls was the winner of the What’s On Stage Award for Best New Comedy in 2010.

Directed by Nancy von Euw, Calendar Girls stars Carol Mann and Nancy Ebert as Chris and Annie, two friends who initiate the calendar which attracts worldwide attention. Joan Koebel, Emma Greenhalgh, Beverley Field and Elaine Francis play the brave ladies who bare it all in this tale of friendship. This cast, comprised of many award winners, is rounded out by Kathleen Driscoll, Sue Sparlin, Natalie Schreiber, Gavin LeClaire and Jared Arthur. A thoroughly engaging mix of hilarity and pathos, this funny, sentimental and captivating comedy will provide the perfect close to the 2015-2016 Season. Don’t miss it!
