For The Pleasure of Seeing Her Again

By Michel Tremblay

Directed by Corina Akeson

For the Pleasure of Seeing Her Again is Michel Tremblay’s homage to his maddening, melodramatic and marvellous mother, who nurtured his imagination, his reclusive reading habits and his love for the Theatre and the Arts, yet did not live to witness the first performance of Les Belles Sœurs or the world-wide acclaim for her son’s artistic genius.

In a compelling balance of humour and poignancy, the ‘Narrator’ conjures memories of ‘Nana’ for, as he says, “I wanted the pleasure of seeing her again. The pleasure of hearing her. So she could make me laugh and cry. One more time, if I may.” Tremblay offers glimpses of a mother and son in several different stages of their lives together, illustrating a relationship of intense love & enjoyment, as well as some formative stepping-stones on the journey from boy to man. It is one of those rare pieces of theatre that manages to be both moving and hilarious. Directed by Corina Akeson, and starring Nancy Ebert and Jason Harder, For the Pleasure of Seeing Her Again promises to be a warm and wonderful theatre experience.
