The Importance of Being Uncle Roscoe

By Pat Cook Directed by Gina Gaudet

It may be the season to be jolly, but things are going downhill fast for the Kendall family. Father has been fired, and Christmas promises to be bleak, with a budget that’s stretched so tight there may not be any gifts this year. On top of that, Uncle Roscoe is due to arrive any day for a visit—and since none of the Kendalls have met him before, it’s hardly the best time to welcome a new relative into the family home. Add in some gossipy neighbours, a couple of con men, some lively youngsters, a plastic-perfect newswoman and hilarious case of mistaken identity, and all the ingredients are in place for a hilarious evening at the theatre.

Well-known Vagabond veteran, Pat McDermott, stars as Dexter Holly, the wily conman who initiates all the fun, and Michael Henderson shines as Kenny, his canny sidekick. Mary Adams and Andy Wood play the beleaguered parents, and Lorynne MacHado and Lindsay McGaire take the roles of the junior Kendalls. Alison Main-Tourneur and Helen Volkow are the gossipy neighbours, and Emma Ferdinands plays the attractive young newswoman who adds to the confusion and chaos. Don’t miss this warmly charming family comedy, a must for the holiday season.
