Marion Bridge
a drama by Daniel MacIvor
Director - Paul Tourneur

Three women in their thirties come "home" to Cape Breton to be with their dying mother. Each in her own way tries to deal with the painful loneliness of their lives - each is trying to reconcile what they have become with what they thought they wanted out of life and with what they thought their parents wanted for them. Nothing, of course, has turned out exactly the way anyone imagined it would.

Paul Tourneur - Director

This is Paul’s directorial debut with Vagabond Players, but not his first show.  He directed his first play, A Sink Full of Dishes, a one act play for Out to Lunch Players. Paul then went on to direct his first full length play for Theatre West Van called The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen’s Guild Dramatic Society Murder Mystery. The show won “Best Production” in the North Vancouver Zone Festival and went on to Mainstage in 2007. He most recently directed A Murder is Announced last fall at Metro Theatre. Although Paul’s directing credits are not extensive he is no stranger to the theatre scene. He first appeared on the Bernie Legge Theatre stage 9 years ago in And Then I Wrote…. His most memorable roles were Mortimer Brewster in Arsenic and Old Lace, Sam the Pickle Man in Crossing Delancey and Jonathan Harker in Transylvanian Clock Works for which he won “Best Actor” in the Vancouver Zone Festival.

Michael JenkinsStage Manager

Michael is very thankful to be involved in community theatre again after many years of making far too much money. Working with and observing the director and cast for this production has reminded Michael of how vital a mental and social playground theatre work really is for his neglected creativity. He looks forward to having a fair amount of experience to make a bio worth writing, as so far he can only brag about designing/painting sets, doing cast/production photography, acting in an entire one-act play, and writing and directing his very own--all as an awkward yet arrogantly ambitious teenager. Although his skin has since cleared and become hairy, Michael still has no idea how to be a proper stage manager, and hopes no one notices.

Michelle BergAgnes MacKeigan

Michelle celebrates 10 years in community theatre this season, having first appeared on stage here at the Bernie Legge Theatre in another Canadian play, The Fighting Days. Some of her favorite roles with the Vagabond Players have been Mina in “The Transylvanian Clockworks, Jennet Jourdemayne in The Lady’s Not for Burning and Peg in last season’s Bathroom HumorMichelle has had the pleasure on more than one occasion to work with Paul on stage and is thoroughly enjoying working under his direction. Michelle is also happy to have a chance to work with Mandana and Sara for the first time.   Enjoy the show!

Mandana Namazi – Theresa MacKeigan

Mandana is excited to be a part of this talented ensemble in this beautifully written Canadian play.  The process has been both a challenge and an adventure.  This is Mandana’s second Vagabond production, the first was Rebecca in which she portrayed Mrs. DeWinter.  Recently, Mandana has appeared as Violet in Fifty Million Frenchmen with Applause! Musicals, Ghost of Christmas Past in A Christmas Carol the Musical for Footlight Theatre, and Felicity/Pawn/Colonel in Theatre West Van’s Farndale Avenue…Murder Mystery.  Her favourite roles to date: Eliza in My Fair Lady and Isabelle in Crossing Delancey.  I hope our show touches your heart and reminds us all of the importance of family.

Corrine Out – Louise MacKeigan

Corrine loves acting and theatre. Since moving to the lower mainland 3 years ago she has taken the stage 3 times at Surrey Little Theatre. Most recently she played Louise in Surrey Little Theatre's production of Marion Bridge and has found playing the same character in two very different interpretations of the show a unique and interesting learning experience. Corrine thanks everyone for coming and supporting the art of theatre. Enjoy the show.
