KING JOHN’S CHRISTMASA Lively Puppet Musical with the Voices of the Vagabond Players
Inspired by the A.A. Milne poem that suggested King John’s villainy was fuelled by despair because Santa didn’t bring him the toy that he wanted, KING JOHN’S CHRISTMAS is a musical romp that takes Max and his friends back to Medieval England. The story is fun for adults and children alike. Because King John hates Christmas, he decides to ruin the festivities for everyone else. In a fit of temper, he calls on his pet dragon, Huff, and together they plot the downfall of Santa Claus. It is now up to Max, the Ho Hum Husky, to foil the King’s wicked scheme, and with able assistance from his friend, Brandy, along with Robin Hood, Maid Marian and Santa himself, Max saves the day. To everyone’s surprise, when the party is a success, even King John discovers that Christmas is a time for rejoicing. For more detailed information, photographs and sound clips see www.elihuentertainment.com. Elwoodettes Marionettes, formed in 1992 by Hugh & Elizabeth Elwood, is a showcase for actors from Vagabond Players who provide the voices for the show’s characters. Brian Leonard stars as King John, and plays cameo roles as Rudolph and Friar Tuck. In addition to his regular role of Max, the Ho Hum Husky, Dwayne Campbell gives a hilarious rendition of Robin Hood, and Mike Scannell returns as Santa, Little John and the villainous dragon, Huff. Elizabeth Elwood is heard as Maid Marian, Brandy and the Princess, and she is joined by Isabel Mendenhall as Mrs. Claus, Deborah Tom as Santa’s Elf, Katie Elwood as the Wooden Soldier, and Bethan Lewis as the Christmas Angel and a forest rabbit. Don’t miss this enchanting story brought to life with the Elwood puppets in a witty and exuberant musical production.
