The Christmas Spirit A Lively Puppet Musical with the voices of the Vagabond Players. If you think Scrooge had a problem with ghosts, wait until you see The Christmas Spirit!Lord Rodney Dimsey hates Christmas. The only Christmas Spirit at Dimsey Hall is Mary Fairfax, the resident ghost, so called because she drowned herself on Christmas Eve. Thus as Christmas approaches, Dimsey Hall is a bleak house full of exuberant phantoms and unhappy people, including young Cedric Dimsey whose pet cat, Fang, has been run over. Cedric is resolved to resurrect Fang, and having invented a time machine, he plans to set it for five minutes before Fang died and pull the cat back into the present. Unfortunately, Max the Ho Hum Husky, spots the ghost cat and gives chase, and in the process he knocks the time machine dial back to 1645. Instead of retrieving Fang, Cedric brings Mary Fairfax into the present, much to the annoyance of the ghost Mary who is considerably irked to find her embodied self present in the house. In the chaos that ensues, Cedric and Max find a way to exorcise the ghosts, resolve a series of unhappy love affairs, and with some able assistance from Santa Claus, they even reform Lord Dimsey. At last the traditional Christmas Spirit is restored in Dimsey Hall. Elwoodettes Marionettes, formed in 1992 by Hugh & Elizabeth Elwood, is a showcase for Vagabonds who do voice-overs.
